EXECUTIVE DECISION

Racehorse EXECUTIVE DECISION was made an honaray member of the Leighton Aspell fan club in 2003.by his owner and fan club member Kate Austin. --------------------------- Exceutive Decision (a.k.a - ED) was born in Ireland in 1994, He had his first run as a 2 Year Old on 12th Oct 96 and finished last of 16 at fairyhouse. Two races later ED now aged 3 won is first race, a 1m1f maiden at Ballinrobe (IRE). He was then trainer by M.J.Grassick at Co Killdare, He had 8 flat races winning 2 and finishing 2nd twice. He then went hurdling and won on his debut at Leopardstown 27 Dec 1997. and followed that up with a another win next time out at Navan 22nd Feb 1998. He had one more run in Ireland before moving over to England to join the Paul Nicholla yard in Somersett. He had 5 runs for Nicholls before he winning at Chepstow 3 march 1999 (2m Handicap Hurdle) He was now aged 5 and three more wins before scoring again at Newton Abbot on his Chasing debut. He developed problems soon after and wasn't seen again until 2001, this time ED was with Noel Chance, he fell on his come back race, ED moved yards again this time he was with Phillip Hobbs and had 5 unsuccessful runs before moving again this time to Lucy Wadham' Newmarket yard, under the ownership of Fan Club member Kate Austin. He was pulled up the first two runs for Lucy. Now aged 8 it was 4 years since he last won a race. Leighton Aspell had his first ride on ED at Fakenham 14th Dec 2002, and finished a very pleasing second.ED had two more rides with different jockeys, before Leighton was re-united with him at Huntingdon 22 Feb 2003, Although he was the toatl outsider at 25/1, It didn't stop ED and Leighton crossing the line first. Leighton then rode him 20 time out of his next 23 races, he was placed 6 times before winning again at Sandown on 12 March 05 aged 11. It was a thrilling finish with ed and leighton just getting the better of Super Nomad and McCoy close home. He won again at Leicester on 15 Feb 2006 beating Lamps Return by 6l, at 14/1. Eds last race was at Wetherby 1n 2007 where he finished 4th. His owner Kate Austin decided soon after this race to retire him from racing.
