On the 3rd of June 2004 a wonder dog was born. He was one of a litter of eight out of Omnipresent by Fortune Mike. Fan club members Simon Mcinnes who had shares in Omnipresent was eager to name one of the litter after his favourite jockey - Leighton Aspell.
The dog he picked was one of two black dogs out of the litter, After many sleepless nights thinking of a suitable name for this future champion, Simon came up with -
BARON LEIGHTON. and what a choice it was too.
The Baron is now in training at Crayford under the expert guidence of Top trainer J.A.Davidson. After a couple of very successful trials Baron Leightons first race came 11th March 2006 at Crayford in a 540m S6 event. Every one was on the edge of their seats has the young Black dog was put into Trap 1. Some shrewdies must have noted Baron Leightons progress in his trails because the bookmakers made the debutant 2/1f He missed the break ran on to finished creditable 2nd.
His next 3 races were all winning ones, going off at 6/4f. 9/4f and 3/1, The latter in a S3 race for the first time.
Baron Leighton is now well known around the Greyhound world - and everyone knows why hes called -
