THE FAN CLUB

The Leighton Aspell Fan Club was formed in 2001. It all started in The Marine View Hotel in Worthing. Every Friday night myself and a couple of friends would scan the runners and ridders on tele-text and pick a horse for the following day to back, the only rule was, Leighton Aspell had to be the jockey.
Soon many regulars started taking an interest because of our success and wanted to join in. Joking, we said sorry but you are not a member of the fan club. There was no such club at that time.
Because it got so popular i decided to form the Leighton Apell Fan Club, just for a bit of fun. I was amazed at the response.
News soon spread mainly from our e-mails being aired on Atthraces. Within around 6 months we had grown to 50 members and at the end of the year we broke the 100 members mark. We now boast well over that, with members from all over the country including Wales and Scotland. We produce a monthly magazine which from the feed back i get is the high light of the month for many members.
I first noticed Leighton when he was claimimg (3) and though he was an excellent jockey who doesn't use thr whip for the sake of it, He sit quiet on a horse and gets on very well the nutty horses.He should be getting better rides than he is. He was mainly ridding around gaff tracks on rubbish horses (and still is) but he always gives 100% for conection.
A quote from one trainer said " I alway put the best jockey on my horses, but if Leighton Aspell isn't available I use McCoy"
We are proud be the very first Jockey fan club, and all our, members although most of them are not wired properly, are very loyal, and follow him whatever he's on. This has paid off with some very big priced winners over the years, and may it continue.
Finally the fan club is not a tipping service, there are too many of these trying to rip you off with £1 a minute phone calls, dont ring them!!.
